    Current Committee Officer  Former Vice President  Life Member Joined: 1990       Kinuko Iko joined the Hawkes Bay Japan Society within one week of arriving in New Zealand. As far as amazing experiences go, the Emperor’s Birthday Celebration at Trust Hall, Wellington, has certainly made its mark on my list. Japan Month at Creative Arts Centre

Opening of the “Japan Month” at Creative Arts Centre in Napier on May 6th this year. Tomokomai Student Visit

We recently had three students visit from our sister city in Tomokomai. Takumi, Noa and Hinano. They stayed with New Zealand homestays, attended school, fed farm animals, viewed the city and it’s surroundings and even took a day trip to Taupo where they enjoyed activities like the bungy and the jet boat. One of our committee memebrs, Kinuko Iko will be performing at the upcoming International Cultures Day in Hastings. Her dance music belongs to a traditional Japanese music form.
