International Cultures Day with Kinuko Iko

One of our committee memebrs, Kinuko Iko will be performing at the upcoming International Cultures Day in Hastings. Her dance music belongs to a traditional Japanese music form. The title is Hydrangea.
In Japan, hydrangeas bloom from May to June and the flowers look stunning in the rain. Their subtle beauty appeals.
In this dance, the performance shows the ever-changing life of a traditional Japanese woman, mirroring with the flowers of the hydrangea whose colour changes as the season progresses. The lyrics of the song start with her first love and pride in her beauty, but frustrations, broken hearts and betrayal happen and eventually settles in her serene being like the flowers of hydrangea will end up to.

Please head along to the event and support Kinuko and enjoy the many cultures of the world!
